Here is a complete lineup of all of the events taking place at the Browncoat Pub & Theatre during this year’s film festival. The Browncoat is located at 111 Grace Street in Downtown Wilmington and is North Carolina’s only Non-profit public house.

THURSDAY, JUNE 11   7PM

Six short films from Wilmington and other nearby North Carolina townships, proving that filmmaking is alive and well in the Tarheel State.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12

When Declan, a 30 year old husband and new father is squeezed out of a promotion, he finds himself wracked by career envy, bitterness and the still-lingering fallout from the suicide of his former creative partner. Searching for salvation, Declan surrenders to the role of stay-at-home dad, and is forced to face his demons while pushing strollers, changing diapers and heating up bottles all the while working to resurrect his dreams. A giant alien mosquito is drawn to earth due to rising CO2 levels in search of blood. Del, a government agent, loses loved ones to the creature and is on a personal vendetta while scientist Dr. Kempler is captivated by it and attempts to help the creature cleanse the earth. The scientist’s beautiful lab assistant, Brittany, is caught in the middle.  A hilarious throwback to the creature feature movies of the pre-slasher era, INSECTULA! is an homage to atomic age monster movies with a gallons of the icky stuff modern horror fans have come to expect. Tips and insights on how to improve your writing and produce scripts that readers will love. Whether you are writing to sell or direct it yourself, this is a perfect chance to hone your craft. Led by:

Terry Linehan

Since 2000, Linehan has taught Screenwriting I and II, Writing for Television, Narrative Producing, Introduction to Film Production, and Moviemakers and Scholars. He is the Internship Director and Alumni Coordinator.

Terry’s films have screened at film festivals nationwide and in Europe. “The Goody Goody”, won Best Short Documentary at First Glance Philadelphia Film Festival. His films have also aired on Public Television in North and South Carolina. His screenplay “Kate Loves Spiffy,” was an AMPAS Semifinalist in the Nicholl Fellowships of Screenwriting.

Langley McArol

Langley McArol, Founder & Chair of “The Don” Award for Best Produced Screenplay at CFIFF.  Langley is a produced Screenwriter and an Indie Award winning Producer/Director. His most recent credits include “House Arrest”, screening this year at CFIFF, and “Superhero”; Official Selection of CFIFF, and winner of the Francis McNally Creativity Award and Audience Choice Award at the Reach Out Film Showcase Festival in NY. Langley has placed well in several screenplay competitions including Final Draft’s Big Break, Page Awards, The Writer’s Store First 15, Script Pipeline, and Scriptapalooza.
